Just Making STuff as a way to cope with the slow collapse.
We live in a precarious time and it seems humanity is committed to pushing our luck. The demand from capital for eternal growth pushes exploitation of planetary resources to exhaustion or collapse. Governments increasingly turn to authoritarian tactics to maintain surveillance and control. The billionaire class uses control over the media to turn the people on one another, persuade us to fear, hate, and scapegoat those who have no responsibility for the mess we’re in.
Feeling angry, sad and afraid are normal responses to these realities. So feel what you feel, just guard against being consumed by it. Engage community, enjoy friendships, be a helpful neighbor. Organize networks for mutual aid, political action, and community clean-up.
And remember that these threats are far too great to be defeated by any one of us alone. We need not feel responsible for swallowing the whole wave, just the mouthful we can handle.
